Reasonably sure this hasn't been discussed at length, figured we might as well have a go at it. I was searching using this name for it, as I've never seen anyone say anything about it, at least in relation to Marth.
Example 1 - (Marth) You're running toward the right side of FD. About one rolls-length away, you do a wave dash toward the edge, but hold the opposite way. This causes you to turn around mid-wavedash, yet with your slippery forward momentum, to the fall off the stage and grab the ledge. Maybe not as fast as a sh-bair to the ledge, but with practice and a fastfall onto the ledge, possibly faster.
Example 2 - (Marth) Fast-walking toward the edge, not dashing. As you get within 2 feet(ingame :D) of the edge, turn. Again, your forward momentum accompanied by marth's lack of friction should slide you off the edge. Really nice for approaching an edgeguard, because you're still facing the edge, but can grab it pretty quickly if the need arises.
Example 3 - (Marth) Just chilling near the edge of FD, facing the edge. Just like in 1, wavedash forward, tap back(or hold, though you might lose a bit of momentum) to turn around, ff to edgehog.

This actually looks really impressive because you kinda just slide and THEN turn. Also, it's not particularly difficult to perfect. Now, granted I HAVE seen this in matches, but usually it happens when a character is just trying to turn around and dash the other way at the edge and they suddenly end up on the edge. I figured this could be an effective way of edgehogging, so I spent a bit of time messing around on different stages and seeing ways to do it. These were by far the easiest to explain/do. Please provide feedback/inform me if this is commonly known. Because I have a pretty indepth knowledge of smash, and I've only ever seen this happen on accident.

I don't think it is a new technique. I think M2K used it a few times or I was wrong.

Sounds cool. Is it possible to fast fall to grap the ledge after WD. I know you can face backwards and wd and then fast fall to grab the legde faster. Can you ff or will it be too late that you actually fall off and not grab the ledge. Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

I have seen this used before, however not very often. I mostly just see people wavedash backwards to grab on to the ledge.

I prefer just dashing and then short hopping and using a bair to turn myself. But I guess it's nice to know.

Aight guys, thanks for the posts and for allowing me to realize the err of my ways :) Even though it's not new, which I kinda assumed it wasn't, why is there a significant(at least in my opinion) lack of prevelance in competitive play? Was it decided that it was too great a risk? Or did it just not catch on with everyone? Or perhaps I am missing something, and it's true purposes are limited/unfullfilling. Idk for sure, just figured I'd get some healthy discussion on the topic, maybe get some people to play around with this technique, see advantages and possibilities.
;)
