Ledge teching with Marth?

So I know how to ledge tech. I practiced it with the Falco target test method, and the motion-sensor bomb method. But no matter what I do, I can't consistently ledge tech w/ Marth using the motion-sensor bomb method. With someone like Fox or Falco, I can get it literally every time, but with Marth, maybe 10% of the time. I even went into Develop mode to do it frame-by-frame so I pressed R frame perfectly, and SDI'd frame perfectly, and still, most of the time it wouldn't work. Is there some hidden secret to ledge teching with Marth?

If you're up-bing in such a way that you don't ride the side of the stage, the distance might be too large (requiring 2 or more sdi inputs)

So don't sweetspot it? I guess that might make sense because if you sweet spot it only the top of Marth is at the ledge...but in Dolphin I had frame perfect SDI toward the stage and he didn't ledge tech. I'll try it again riding closer to the stage. Do you think it would be more difficult on FD also? Since the ledge kinda juts out? (In comparison to a place like Yoshi's, where there is a huge wall to tech off of)

I mean the goal is just to be within 1 SDI input range of the wall when you enter hitlag, so however you can do that works. FD lip has easily enough space to tech off

on FD, as soon as you do the curl motion as you up+B to get more horizontal recovery and ride the inside wall of the stage, hold L or R and also hold the C stick in a diagonally upward angle in the same direction as the analog stick to the stage. You have half-a-second window of time holding L or R to initiate a tech, i usually am holding both sticks and R as soon as I press Up+B when I manage to properly wall tech. Also make sure to bair as soon as you get a walljumptech to still be able to recover, or if you still have your side B that might work too. It's not that easy. As soon as I got another marth player to Fsmash my recovery every time on FD so that I could learn the technique I was able to get it multiple times in a row. It is harder on other stages

I press R a little bit after my Up B (because Dolphin slash is 23 frames and you can only buffer for 20) and then smash my control stick to the right while in hitstun, I thought that's what you were supposed to do. You said you just hold control stick and c-stick?

Also, what is this "curling"? I've heard people mention it, but I'm not sure what it is.
Curling is when u up b and hold left/right at the same time and It will go left/right a little more

To get the tech I just DI towards the stage and press L I don't normally use SDI for this

If you're really inputting L or R just a few frames after the upB, you're screwing up because you're forgetting about hitlag (freeze frames) during which you SDI that make you miss the 20 frame window for the tech.
