Hi, I am a rookie player trying to learn more advanced techniques. Can someone please explain how to go from hanging on the ledge of a stage into a knee that I have seen a lot of players do. Any explanation or button input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Its called a ledgehop. You fall off the ledge by pressing back on the control stick, and then use your second jump to immediately jump on to the stage. You use the knee, or any other aerial attack, during your second jump. Good luck:falconmelee:

Also, you need to let go of the control stick before you jump or else you'll jump backward and if you knee then, you'll have to recover, if you can even reach the ledge from that point.

The trick is in moving back onto stage. You tilt away to drop from the stage, then tilt toward the stage, then jump + A. If you look at double jumps while holding in either direction, you gain a huge horizontal boost at the time of the jump based on what you're holding. It's likely that you're holding away from the stage at the time of you're jump, making it impossible to land. (Also, try u-airs onto stage. They set up combos really nicely.)

This is just an edge hop.
1) grab the edge
2) tap backwards to let go of the edge
3) use your air jump forwards asap
4) use an attack (or anything really, like waveland, airdodge, nothing, etc.)

It actually took me quite a while to master this one, but I believe it is extremely important since it is a major part of edge guarding.

Some other important notes for when you master the edge hop:
- When you first grab the edge, you gain some invincibility frames. Every character does. So doing the ledge hop right away means you will carry these invincibility frames. That's why in the video link the captain falcon does not get hit at all.
- The falcon in the video got a "reverse knee". You can do this by hitting with the back of the hitbox of the knee. It's useful for any time you want to knee them the opposite direction (ie not just for this knee). The back of the hitbox is basically in captain falcon's crotch/ass. Try to have the enemy there when the knee hits.
