I was playing friendlies earlier today and the craziest thing happened. The matchup was marth falco and the stage was battlefield.

falco was on the ledge and doing one of his >100% getup options and I ran up and tried to jc grab him but instead he immediately fell off the stage in the platformfall/grab release animation.

does anyone know how/why this happened? I'll provide more info if you need it

Weird. I tried int on a CPU but it never happened to me. What option was he using? how late into it did you grab, like, after invincibility right?

it was like he got up and then immediately fell. it could have been a number of things, probably something frame or pixel perfect.

to explain visually, falco started to get up, stood up and then fell backwards off the ledge like he was in shield and pushed mixed with grab release. but it happened so quickly that I'm not sure. It requires further examination

He probably did a slow getup onto ledge and shielded immediately. When you ran up to grab him, you pushed him off the ledge with your body, and because he fell off backwards in shield, he went into that tumble animation.

I don't know the exact name for this, but it usually happens when 1 player is trying to grab and "clanks" with the other player's attack, it cancels both and the person who is attacking gets pushed away.
