Ledge grab out of air dodge

I was playing Mewtwo in training mode and noticed that he can grab the ledge very quickly out of air dodge. This is strange to me because I thought there was a long delay after air dodge where you couldn't grab the ledge as in Yoshi's case. Are there other characters who can grab the ledge quickly after air dodging?

It's not so much that he can grab quickly, more that he falls so slowly
So once the animation has ended, he still hasn't fallen very far. Most other characters fall much faster, so like Yoshi, by the time THe air dodge animation is over and they can grab the edge, they have fallen much farther

What's happening is Mewtwo enters his freefall animation sooner after his air dodge than most. I can have Mewtwo airdodge right beside the ledge and he'll grab the ledge barely having moved at all. So while others like Yoshi start falling in their air dodge after the intangibility, Mewtwo takes that time in the reappearing part of his air dodge where he isn't moving.

What's happening is what I described in my post. That's how airdodges work and how falling speeds work. Everybody's airdodge has the same length and can grab the edge at the same frame. MewTwo has very low gravity, so he accelerates downward very slowly and exits the animation having lost almost no height. Not because of a difference in when he can grab the edge after the airdodge or because of when the airdodge ends. It's just because of how floaty he is.
Seriously.
Try it with another floaty.
Peach/Zelda are about his height and about his floatiness. Jiggs is also very floaty.

I looked at the frame data to compare and see that Mewtwo's air dodge is 39 frames long and Yoshi's is 49 frames long. I air dodged next to the ledge with Mewtwo and he grabbed the ledge at frame 40, and Yoshi grabbed it at frame 50 which makes sense. But their air dodge intangibility ends at the same time (frame 30), meaning Yoshi has 10 more frames of endlag during which he can't grab the ledge and is only falling. Jigglypuff is in-between at 43 frames so there's only a small difference between her and Mewtwo.

So the only difference is some air dodges have more end lag than others. Characters don't grab the ledge at the same frame out of an air dodge and air dodges are not the same length.

What's happening is
Seriously
I don't like the condescension here. In my second post I said that in reference to what I was seeing in the emulator.

It'd be better if you could always grab the ledge during the entire airdodge animation.

But then you could ledge drop and regrab immediately, and everybody would be Sheik.

Hmm...I guess that's kinda true, but I was talking more about airdodging to recover.

I think this would be ultimately detrimental to the metagame. It would push the game too far into the defensive spectrum, and PM is supposed to slightly favor attack over defense.

I can see the appeal, but the fact is it wouldn't be good for the game in the long run.
