Can someone thouroughly explain the concept of get up attacks from the ledge? Is it just everyone has a certain attack for under and over 100%? Also, as a marth main, is it ever worth it to ledge get up attack? The large majority of the time I feel that roll or jump ledge get ups are safer.

It is as you say. Each character has their own unique attack and then at 100+%, they have a different unique attack (though clones have the same attacks).

Overall, get up attacks from the edge are bad. I am not 100% sure, but they all seem to be vulnerable before they put out a hitbox. You can time attacks against the start of their get up animation that will hit them before they attacks (this is especially true when they are at 100+ damage, since the animation is slower in all cases).

Learning to use edge hopping effectively is very important (let go of the edge by move the stick away from the edge or down and then using your double jump). Since you have 30 frames of invincibility after you grab the ledge, you can carry this invincibility onto the stage with an attack that is probably always better than your get up attack. You can also waveland onto the stage to gain some ground while still invincible. (I included the descriptions here since it says you joined today, but I recommend checking out some of the advanced technique videos if you don't know them yet)

All can have their uses, some character you want to avoid some of them at all costs.

Usually > 100 get up attack or get up is very dumb since it leaves you vulnerable and predictable.

< 100 Get up can be good, or in Bowser's case amazing

Most of the time you'll want to grab ledge > then as fast as possible ledge dash and invincible attack or grab.
- In general you don't want to be at the ledge while an opponent is right above you on stage unless you have amazing options from ledge grab or an infinite invincible ledge stall / special stall.

Ledge roll is of course most utilized when edge guarding a recovering opponent, it occupies the ledge as if you are still hanging for a VERY long time. and > 100 it's even longer.

While the Dreamland wind is blowing in their direction, Fox and Falco will fall back onto the ledge after using their <100% ledge attack. It's just a gimmick though; nothing important. The same thing happens with a few characters on the Pokémon Stadium cliff (Luigi and Captain Falcon are the ones I can remember, but I'm pretty sure there are more).
