Learning Marth. (Needing some help.)

I'm trying to find a good Sub-Character, and Marth seems to be the ticket.

I just have some trouble.

I know from Melee, that his attacks are strongest when you hit with the tip of the blade, but all my opponents seem to want to close in on you. Any tips on how to keep the distance?

I've learned how to Spike pretty good, and I was then told to come here for help.

Some things I need to know: (Language wise)
I probably know how to, but what is Tilt? (ex. D-Tilt)
