So I was wondering where I could best learn what stages give advantages to what fighters.

I never cared much until I got knocked out of pools in a tournament the other day when I picked Halberd and then lost to a R.O.B.

Is there a guide anywhere on this?

There aren't any official guides, though you may get some of this info perusing the character specific forums. A Sticky thread with that kind of info may not be a bad idea, as it could help players find a good counter pick during tournaments. I'd recommend going to your character specific forum and create a thread there about this. It could become the beginning of something good for newer players.

Looked a little deeper, and some forums have stage discussions mixed into their Match-Up stickies and some have nothing at all. Definitely want to look into your character of choice's forum before making a character specific stage recommendation list.

I do recommend going to the character specific boards and look through available threads there or asking on the social thread.

Halberd is a good stage for ROB because he can shark (attack through the bottom of the main platform) the first transformation, camp the second transformation and the low ceiling benefits his upsmash immensely. This is very character specific and you need to check out character boards for most things however I encourage you to look into ceiling heights as this is one major factor in deciding which stage to choose.
