Hey guys,

Been procrastinating learning shield drop or isai drop but its like the next thing on my list to learn. tech wise.

Any opinions on which to learn is easier/better/faster?

Especially with PM, are there any differences in shield dropping or isai drop in PM vs melee?

I know the information is floating around somewhere but I wanted some confirmation before I spent time working on it. It seems like both of these take some time to learn from wat I hear.

Thanks for any help guys.

Only real difference is that the control stick is more sensitive in PM. If you learn to do it in Melee you'd be able to do it in PM, though it might require a softer press.
Really easy way to shield drop is just to press and hold down (a smash input not a soft downward tilt) 2-4 frames before you shield, and you character will shield drop on the first frame of their shield. Doing this actually skips 2 frames of crouching your character does before dropping through a platform, so it's actually the fastest way to drop through a platform in ALL situations.

That method is pretty easy I learned to do it pretty reliably in a couple of days
It won't work if your shield is already up tho, for that you have to either do it the hard way (getting the perfect downward tilt) or do it the slow way(angling shield forward first then sliding the stick down to a diagonal notch), regardless of which game.

EDIT: also worth noting if you use the pressing-down-first method, make sure you light press shield instead of full press, or an air dodge will come out.

Shield dropping is easy, its overhyped in terms of "oh I don't want to commit to learning a difficult tech". Its easier than learning to wavedash (I learned how to do it before I learned to wavedash)
