I'm wondering how legit this is and how well it works against different characters. I'm relatively new into the scene and I've been playing some falcon the past while, and I do an ok job with my stage positioning and my movement, but my biggest downfall is messing up my spacing with my aerials and then getting shield grabbed or punished otherwise. There's more to work on then just this, but I've found that this option is a good mixup and can lead into combos against most characters/people I've played against. Sometimes though I'll light shield instead of actually throwing my grab out, and I'm wondering why that is? Am i holding L too long after the aerial? Or what. Also, I'm just curious as to when, or if at all this is a good approach.

This option is actually incredible and one of my favorite things to do against Marth and Peach as it can lead to really high percents from a grab at 0 percent. It works on most characters but more reliable and easier on floaty characters. I decided to try replicating your light shielding problem and from what I am seeing it is because you are either:

1) Pressing Z too quickly after landing your aerial or

2) Holding Z too long for the grab putting out the light shield

I'm pretty sure your problem is #1 as it is relatively easy to replicate that doing that. What I would recommend is to wait just ever so slightly longer to throw out the grab. I'm not sure exact time but wait just a few frames longer. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks I appreciate the help. I'll work on that timing.
