LAN Adapters

Hello everyone. I'm probably going to be ordering one of these within the next two days because despite my Wii U being directly on top of my router and me having OK internet speed (as told by many people), over 80% of my online games lag, sometimes to the point where they're unplayable.

I was just wondering if one of these would work or if I would have to get one of the official ones? Here's the one I have in my cart at the moment: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F41TWAO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1QTGXAMH2TVVP

Was also wondering if I needed any additional cables for it to work properly? If so, can I get a link to them? How much do these adapters help with online play?

This one works exactly the same as the official one. Both this and the official adapter have the same chipset, and that's all that really matters. I bought this a month ago, and my lag has decreased significantly, probably from a lower ping. I'm not sure about the Wii U, but my PS4 internet speeds increased threefold, so that's a big jump.

The only cable you'll need to connect this to your router is an ethernet cable. Monoprice is the cheapest for most cables afaik. Just pick whatever length you'll need.

Thank you. I'll post back on here once it arrives and let everyone know how well it works. :)

This is the exact one i use! and yes it works perfectly with WiiU! (i rarely lag now)

And you are going to need a Ethernet Cord, but if your as close to your router as you say you are.
You dont need a long one so its going to be cheap for you.

My LAN Adapter came in today and I've already played a couple of games with it. The first two-three games or so of breaking it in had very little lag (albeit much better than what I was playing on before), but after that, there was no lag at all. I've only played against one person with it so far so I probably need more testing with it, but so far I highly recommend getting one to anyone dealing with lag issues online. :)

if that one match was ours, the connection was flawless!

i've also been looking at lan adapters because about 60% of my online matches aren't the best either.

i definitely want to know how this turns out with some more testing though

Yep, it was. Will test it more today and post results.
Just wondering, did you buy the old or the new version?
The one I have is listed in the OP, it isn't one made by Nintendo.

Edit: Played two more people today. The first person I met on a live stream and it was lagging a bit I'm assuming because we were watching the stream. We both paused it and the connection was much better - it lagged at times since it is online after all, but nothing to major. I just got done "playing" someone else from here though using my LAN adaptor and the lag was atrocious (no offense if you read this, lol), and I ended up leaving. So I guess the adaptors are meant to make your connection stable enough so that you can play with someone that has decent internet, but it overall just comes down to your opponent's internet connection, which sucks.

Yeah, if you start lagging, 9 out of 10 times it is going to be your opponent. At least you know it isn't you anymore though.

I'm glad you decided to use the unreadable combination of purple text on a black background because I'm sure whatever you wrote isn't worth reading.

Are you still experiencing excellent latency? I'm thinking about purchasing one.

I'm honestly looking to get one now so that I at least add to the pool of good connections. Couldn't hurt I suppose.
Most of my matches are super smooth, especially if my opponent has a LAN adapter as well.

I played with Snoopy not too long ago, and ever since he got his LAN adapter, there was no lag in our matches.

@Ultrashroom Hello there, thanks for the recommendation on the Plugable® Adapter.
I want to buy one but I wasn't sure if it will work properly, now I know. Also I was kinda worried because that's the only adapter that ships to Mexico.

Again thank you and I'll report my experience when I got mine. :D
