L-Canceling troubles

I've been using Jigglypuff for a while and then i decided to switch to Falco since I enjoy him a lot more and my main focus is to have fun while still playing good. My only problem from this switch is that when I mained Jiggs, I used Z to L-cancel (and nair). I try to L-cancel using L but I just can't do it and I use Z without thinking. The reason I'm trying to switch to L is because I feel like it might cause problems, but I dont know enough about Falco yet and if I'm going to change this up I should do it ASAP. Will this cause any problems in the future or should I be okay if I play it right and dont mess up. Thanks for your help! :143:

Z should be fine for both characters. I don't recommend using L to l cancel because it changes your grib, slightly, on the control stick. You'll need to have precise inputs on it because Melee is a fighting game about movement. Movement is also analog, which makes it more sensitive to errrors

Doesn't Z count as a full press input, though? I've been using Z for a good year or so, but I think I accidentally teched with it the other day. Got me worried >___>

I've been using L for as long as I can remember, but I guess it's all preference :v find what's comfy for you and build around that

In theory, Z is optimal for L canceling if you have trouble consistently light pressing L so it doesn't register as an attempt to tech if you get hit. Nevertheless, use what's most comfortable for you.
