Hey guys,

Went to a tourney yesterday, had a great day, but realized that a very key part of Marth is his l-cancel, so Ive been trying to learn it. Now, I have noticed some differences in my Dolphin ( 60FPS, 100% emulation)[benQ gaming monitor)] and CRT tech skill. Currently, I average about 90-95% of all wavedashes and wavelands on my Dolphin, but Playing yersterday on CRT and a wii/GC, I was doing wavedashs/Wavelands 95-98% of the time. Therefore, my question is: due to strict timeframe of L-Cencel ( 7-frames), Woudl practicing it on a HD monitor be different on a crt, or will it be the same?

For anyone that is practicing L-Canceling, there is no tips to for it. Just like wavedashing,L-Canceling a muscle memory..

I find this routine helps though :

10 Short Hops
10 Short Hops Fast Falls
10 Short Hops L-Canceled ( Dair has massive End lag, so there is no worry of auto canceling
10 Short Hop Nairs( 1/2 speed)- good for seeing when to input the L-cancel
10 Short hop Nairs( Full speed)- makign sure to time properly so not to shield.

Good luck to all, and if anyone has any experience of HD vs CRT, please let me know. Thanks

Can you try the console connected to the monitor?

With the benq 10ms monitors, your input lag is around 2/3 of a frame.
L canceling is 1-7 frames before landing.

the monitors lag shouldn't affect you.

it is more likely the adapter, if its a mayflash it only refreshes input on the next frame. so if youre l canceling on the 7th you'll probably miss.
