Hey, what up smash community,
I customize controllers, mainly gamecube. I have had some issues with the current controller I am working on.
It seems that, halfway through an intense game of Smash, the L and R buttons start acting funky. It will start jumping when I press the triggers, and sometimes with jump dodge. You can literally keep it down and the character will just jump up and down or they will jump dodge. Again, it only happens in an intense game, about mid game.
Anyone else ever experience the issue? Im not exactly sure what to do...any words of advice are appreciated.

So you're saying the L/R buttons are registering as a jump input when being pressed sometimes and you are 100% sure it's the shoulder buttons? Sounds like a bad PCB.

I can't imagine it being anything besides the PCB. You can try inspecting/cleaning it, but you'll likely just have to replace it. If you have some soldering skills you can at least rescue the control/c-sticks for repairing other controllers.

PCB stands for the Printed Circuit Board, aka the "brains" of the controller are malfunctioning, possibly due to a short or damage instead of the shoulder buttons not working, which would be mechanical failure. What makes it even more likely is if both L and R are having this issue and not just one.

Of course, it worked fine before. I am going to try cleaning it and reassembling to see if it helps.
If anyone has suggestions to fixing the issue besides cleaning the button sensor pads, let me know

I cleaned up the inside, and everything is working good again. Thanks, sorry for the false alarm, it did appear that something was wrong beyond cleaning
