It is true indeed, the long overdue Kitana support thread has emerged !
Let me start by saying that the Mortal Kombat fighting game series ( since 1990) is notorious for its gruesome goriness and deadly ninjas (everything we love), but most importantly for being the origin of the creation of the age rating systems for video games back in the day.
Such a long-living and iconic franchise cannot acceptably be left out of the biggest crossover fighting game in history that is, you know it,Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale SSBU.
Moving on to who could represent the franchise as a fighter : Kitana.
Since the franchise doesn't really have a precise main protaginist ( it could be argued that Liu-Kang and Raiden are equally, if not more, important and that Scorpion/Sub-Zero are the mascots ), I believe that the princess of Edenia, with her outstanding popularity and huge role in the story ( especially in the latest iteration), would be a perfect representative of MK and would bring something new to the table as far as SSBU's roster goes.
Her regal presence would certainy not leave unnoticed.
She stands out for her elegant and yet deadly steel fans and ninja style coupled with incredible willpower and gracefully punishing fighting moves.
A very rich and varied movest that cannot be summed up by words and can easily be pulled from her many playable game appearances.
Without forgetting her infamous teleportation and fan throws, here is a tiny fraction of the moves Kitana has proven to master :
Kitana's color swaps, since MK is known for its many original characters starting as such, could easily represents her fellow MK fighters such as Jade (green), Tanya (yellow), Mileena (pink), Sindel (purple), Skarlet (red), Khameleon (grey) ect.
When it comes to the music, the catchy, tense and badass tracks are abundant in the games and here is a very little selection of my personal favorite ones :
Kitana is also the queen at making an entrance and victory poses :
Not a single one of her outfits throughout the ages have missed the mark in my book ( MK DA/U's one being my favorite ) :
MK 11
The Mortal Kombat series, although its gory identity doesn't mesh well with Smash bros' "for everyone" one, has proven to be able to tone down the violence and work well in the crossover game MK vs DC.
Also, it is interesting to note that Kitana herself is not the most blood-tainted character in the franchise and would naturally fit in a toned-down environment as proven by this signature fatality of hers *joke* :
To conclude, as unlikely as it may seem, I hope I'm not the only one to feed the crazy dream of seeing Kitana making it in the roster one day, making everyone LEARN RESPECT in the process !
