Kirby's Adventure(NES)

So this game is totally awesome but that is not the issue here.

I have never known what the plot of that game was. I just obliviously played its awesomeness without ever caring. Then yesterday a friend of mine told me the plot of the game...

I am not sure if it is true and thats what I wanted to find out.
Story:
Kirby finds out that Dedede is hogging the Star Rod all to himself. He goes through all this crap to get to him and defeat him to take the Star Rod from Dedede's greedy *** only to realize that taking the Star Rod from the Fountain of Dreams unleashes great evil upon the world. Dedede was actually being a good guy and trying to guard the Star Rod from being taken by anyone and unleashing evil upon Dream Land.

First off, I love Dedede, he's such a great guy.
Anyway, is this actually the story? Because it is pretty great especially for an NES game(granted it was released in '93...)

And if this is true, then just discuss the awesomeness of this game I guess. There is probably a thread for this game somewhere, but not about the plot so that's my excuse.

Also, wtf is the point of MetaKnight besides to be freakin' sweet?

anyone thinks, he is just greedy and wanted the star rod
