KEO is basically a timecapsule for 50,000 years from now, so called because k, e and o are the most frequently used sounds in languages today. It's going to be launched into space in 2009/2010 and.... well, I'm sure I don't need to say anything that's already been said in the links provided.
Personally, while the project has some pretty obvious flaws (lifespan of DVDs, possible extinction of man, possible post apocalyptic reversal of civilisation involving the destruction of technology, the ever-changing, ever-evolving nature of language, etc.) I think it's pretty cool. If you haven't read that far (or at all) into the links yet, everyone (everyone) is allowed to submit a 6000 character letter for the time-capsule (roughly 800 words, I think).
So, what kind of things would you include in your message?
What else do you think impedes the success of this project?
Anything else you see right/wrong with it?
K go.
