Hey... I've run into a bit of an issue, one that has been bugging me for... a while now. I'm having a REALLY hard time trying to find enjoyment in Smash Bros. It's unfortunate since I've played A LOT of Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl and enjoyed them for what they are. But lately, I play the games and can't seem to enjoy myself as I once had. Maybe this is from the lack of drive I've been going through to actually play. Perhaps the it is the result of the amount of salt I've been eating from getting my butt kicked in FG. I do want to enjoy the time I spend playing but... I can't seem to find any reason to continue playing.

SmashBoards, I ask you, how do you keep Smash fun to play?

Go for 100% completion in all games. Do all the events in melee, challenges in Smash 4, Finish the subspace in Brawl, try new characters etc.

Well, to figure out the solution to your problem, I think you'd have to figure out what made the Smash games fun to you in the first place.

I find Smash extremely exhilarating and fun to play as a free for all party game as well as a one vs one competitive duel, even if I get my butt kicked.

Set yourself a goal or target. Work towards that goal every day and record your progress as you go.

Having something to strive for makes a huge difference, both in terms of enjoying the game and improving your skills. Try getting involved in a local scene or online community, make new friends and get better together. And as previously mentioned in this thread, look back at what made the games fun in the first place. Go back and play the older games, if you want, and then come back to this one and appreciate all the good things in it.

Agreed 100% on this regarding the setting of goals. As I approached my goal of beating the 140 challenges without hammers, I'd periodically update my profile in Internet Options to reflect how close I was getting to the goal. This can be especially handy if you and some online friends are also trying to reach goals. As an example, my Wii profile used to say Smash'd 139/14O and then my Smash profile would say something like AllStarHard44/49 as I was approaching my final goal. I also would update the profile pic with the character I had most recently used to beat All Star on Hard.

Since conquering that goal, I now do something similar with my profile, reflecting my progress on how many characters I have beaten Classic 9.0 with, and displaying the character I most recently used.

Well they all give pretty good advice,...But i got a different tip for you though.

Take a break...Or a long break from Smash.

Try other games check out the steam libary.

Sometimes i just stop playing smash and when i come back it feels so amazing and welcoming again.

You dont need to keep playing all the time.

And after that and you still dont enjoy it then just stop.

Its just a game and games are not forced upon you.

I mean this in a kind way as i know how you feel as i have had it before but i have many other games to play.
