Katamari is a game franchise about rolling stuff up into a ball and seeing how big you can get it
most of the time
. Discuss this franchise and it's success/charactors/stages/premise etc.

I love "that trash" game and find it oddly relaxing. I only have the first one, but am interested in getting We love Katamari (it was really the only well received sequel) I also wish I had a ps3 for Katamari Forever/Katamari Damacy Tribute since it mixes in good older levels and newer ones. Unfortunately I am poor and cannot afford a ps3.
.....I am also in love with the soundtrack of course :)

A Wii version might work. Use the Wii remote on it's side and tilt it to roll?

As I recall the creator was one of very few developers who thought the Wii was kind of a "dull idea" or something before it came out. Maybe he tried it and changed his mind. meh.

love the first two games. We <3 K is my favorite. Both soundtracks are great. Beautiful K was mediocre I thought.

they are very fun games, though. not much to discuss. XD

Katamari Damacy was the reason I got a PS2. It and We <3 are two of my few games for it, along with DDR and SotC. The two Katamari games are amazing, amazing games. The first one is just so unique and fun, with a good progression and great music. We <3 is the ideal sequel, with lots of new ideas while keeping the same feel. Plus, the King of all Cosmos is an epic character.

I think a Katamari game for Wii would work really well. Just tilt the nunchuk and wiimote in unison in the direction you want to roll, just like the dual analogs of the PS2 controller. Other buttons can take the role of the reversal, map the camera to the nunchuk analog, and you've got yourself a winner.

I never had the chance to play Katamari until I went to my friends house. Loved the game.
Instead of hunting down the PS2 version, I'm just going to wait until Katamari Forever comes out in the US.
Should be out in about a month from now.

Using my powers of deduction, I have deduced that you have a ps3, I will totally hunt you down for it.
Also really posting to say that if you ever wanted to get the first or second one you can get them pretty cheaply It would be worth the hunt! :chuckle:

Haha, yes, I do have a PS3. But I bought it with my own money after getting a job, so I'm quite proud of that.
You can bet that I had empty pockets for awhile after that. lol

But yeah, I really enjoyed playing it at my friends house. So who knows, if the PS2 one and PS3 offer 2 different experiences, then I might have to go hunt down the first one.

Senjougahara from Bakemonogatari. Although, she looks cuter in this pic.
If you haven't watched it yet, watch it.
Konata's coming back soon though. REAL soon. Got a whole slew of avys.

As for Katamari, the game really did slip my mind until this thread was created.

Actually wait... It's NOT Senjougahara. It's Nadeko Sengoku. Stupid pic was mislabled.
Still cute anyways.

But enough of that, I'm getting off topic. lol

I'd hate for this to die already, so let's talk about something more specific. How about... what are your favorite levels? They can be from any game in the series, of course. For me, making the moon in Damacy was always fun, as was the bird-elephant one in We <3. I liked having a long time to just roll so much stuff up. Plus, I always enjoyed trying to calculate how fast I'd get to certain goals based on my rate of growth.

I also enjoyed the Virgo level in Damacy. I'm a Virgo, so before I got to that level, I jokingly thought there should be a level for Virgo. Imagine my surprise when there it was, and just as silly as I hoped. Good stuff.

On the other hand, I really don't enjoy the cow, bear, and cowbear levels at all. The precision rolling and constant vigilance just isn't fun for me, especially with all the stupid stuff like bear statues and cow traffic cones that you can get without even realizing they're there in time. But I'm just whining.
