I am running Project 64 0.13 Core 1.4 with the newly updated Kaillera client .dll file

Speedtest.net gives me a 7mbps and 500 kbps download and upload, respectively

Is there some sort of port forward or modem tweak to have no lag?

edit: ping on The Galaxy is 23

when you play offline it does not lag at all?
we need more data, what graphics plugin are you running, if you have downloaded my folder from the index, it might auto load glide for online games, and if your gpu or computer is not strong enough, it might lag.

guh, i feel like i'm talking to a brick wall

what matters most is your connection, not your connection speed

if it's stable, you'll be fine

if it's not, you will lag

all the time

Graphics plugin:
Jabo's Direct3D7 1.40

Audio plugin:
Jabo's DirectSound 1.40

Input plugin:
N-Rage's Direct-Input8 1.61

I use a mayflash adapter to play with an n64 controller.

I downloaded the PJ64 0.13 from some random website and changed the .dll

PC Specs:
Intel i5 OC at 3.2GHz
3GB DDR3 RAM clock speed 1333MHz
7600GT Nvidia graphics

Zero lag in offline play

well, the main reason i can see for this happening is the connection then.
are you on wifi or connected via rj45?

rj45 modem is in my room, wireless is disabled. I disabled the firewall on my modem and I just had a lag free match but that could be luck, I'll try a few more out. I don't really want to play without a firewall on though.

edit: 2 lag free matches in a row

cant copy and paste but this is what it says
packet size preserved end-to-end
server IP addresses preserved end-to-end
NAT is modifying clients IP address
server says 99.XXX.XX.X but client says 192.XXX.X.XX

uhh, are you sure yer the one lagging? did you do /lagstat? the internet has an infinite supply of laggers you know, maybe yer playing them

also as was said, it doesn't matter how fast your internet is, it matters how stable it is and how much other programs/people are using it while you play smash

i've seen people with 90 ping not lag at all and people with 20 ping lag bad

Client is probably behind a firewall [Connection to the ephemeral port failed]
everything preserved end to end
3.95 Mb/s outbound test
3.60 Mb/s

Could my firewall be destroying my connection?

I made the exception, the test said everything is fine. I can't handle the truth that I might have bad internet.

I am running a duo 2.4 processor with a Geforce 8800 video card and 2 gb of ram. Could it be a slow computer?

Most games I get around 50 lag spikes per round. A couple of people I played against we both played with 0 lag spikes. This whole thing is giving me a headache.

Hm. If you play fine with some people, but not others, it might not be you! Did the test say anything about packet queuing? There would be big bold blue letters if it did, but look closer.

Just keep testing with a variety of different people.

Where are you? At school? Home? Who else is on the network besides you?

I live in an apartment complex. I am the sole person on my network. I am hardlined on a desktop computer with Cox cable connection. WRT54G router and a Scientific Atlanta 2100 modem.

It said S2C packet queuing detected.

Oof, packet queuing is your problem. You won't be able to play if that keeps up.

You're sure you're the only one on your network? I'd suggest running the test at all different times during the day to see if anything changes. As a rule of thumb, I always run the test right before playing. If I'm not packet queuing, there might not be any lag, but it's pointless to try if there is, because you will be in lag-city.

If it really is just you, it's your internet connection. You can call Cox and ask them what's up, but I wouldn't expect much.
