Okay, so I'm seriously considering buying and setting up a ventrilo server for galaxy smashers and all my friends and whoever else. It sounds fun and really useful to me. But what is your input? Would ya'll actually use it and show respect for everyone who joins? What do you think is a good amount of max users? And I also wanted to ask if anyone would actually help pay for it if possible because it's not that cheap. If not I will pay for it, it just a bit pricy but i'll do it if I have your support. I really like this idea and I hope you do too.

What do you think makes teamspeak > ventrilo? The only advantage I know of is that it supports Linux, which smash64 people don't use AFAIK. I've been using ventrilo for probably 6+ years now, and I think it's incredibly easy to use with great voice quality. I didn't know people still used teamspeak tbh

And if it doesn't work I also found a free one anyone can use and it holds 300 people Here is the info for mine, please try to connect when you get a chance sat here for over an hour trying to figure this out

I appreciate your effort - really I do - but there's a few problems.
1) I'm assuming you're trying to run this out of your own house/computer. This will lag your internet connection and will probably lag for the users as well. Additionally, if you live with anybody else, the ventrilo server's lag will be worse depending on how many people are using your internet (and their internet would be slowed).
2) The non-commercial version only supports up to 8 users I believe, not 100.
3) I cannot connect. I think your hardware (router) or software firewall is blocking me.

What you are doing is OK for a few people in a pinch but is definitely not as good as a dedicated ventrilo server. Those "professionally" hosted servers have a lot more bandwidth than you or I and can therefore support many people talking at once.

Again, I'm not trying to bash your efforts - just don't want you to invest too much time into something that might not work as well as you think it might.
