Not true if I'm not mistaken, but definitely an interesting tool.
Timing seems short, but pretty effective combo.

I had done some labbing with this. The timing is strict but the combo can be true with no DI. With any type of DI, Up Smash will likely not be true. It becomes a tech chase in that instance. Your opponent will be forced to tech and you can try to read and punish their decision, be it with a jab lock, (pivot) forward smash, etc. It's better than nothing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
