So I downloaded 20XX and was feeling nostalgic and wanted to play Melee again and see if I would be any good at it considering I lost my copy of Melee years ago and haven't played it in 10 years.

So I turned the game on and loaded it up and chose Fox because he is my main in Sm4sh and Brawl so I wanted to see if my skills would transfer over, boy was I wrong... The game was soo hard to play and I felt like a scrub haha. So then I kept playing and was messing around with different characters and when I chose Falco, I felt like it was an easier to control version of Fox so I kept playing him.

Then I wanted to learn techniques and play good so I learned how to L-Cancel and it took about an hour for me to master it but I got it down now thanks to 20XX telling me if I did it right or not. So my favorite combo has to be Dair L-cancel Shine and follow up with any move because I always thought it looked cool when Mang0 did it so I wanted to try it haha. All I'm really doing now is beating lvl 9 CPUs but its a start I guess.

This game is so fun and have been playing it for 5 hours straight and my hands hurt like hell now from the amount of inputs I'm doing with Falco. I just wish more people in my area played Melee instead of Sm4sh because this game is way more fun imo. I love Sm4sh and all but this game is so rewarding to learn and takes way more skill.

Also share some cool stories of when you started playing this game competitively and stuff because today marks the day I begin with my new Melee main Falco. Also any tips would be much appreciated because I want to learn and get better as much as possible.

Melee is fun. Just don't play anything above level 1 cpu's, as you are going to develop bad habits. If you are ever planning to go go tournaments, the 20XX cpu is great for practicing combos and techchases. Make sure to learn all of the basic techniques so you can start playing melee at a much faster speed.

(search advanced how to play ssbm.)

For learning Falco, there are a couple of vids/series:

I started at my first tournament last October, and I'm happy to say I've stuck with Marth since then. After watching the documentary, and seeing some of the high level play at EVO 2014, I felt like the love I had for this game when I was much younger had come back a lot stronger. I've been working hard to get better since.

Good Luck.
