Yooooo Luigi boards. So I just got back from a tourney here in Spokane, WA. We ended up having something like 50 people or so (including DSF), and it was pretty bomb. I ended up losing to the 'best' MK in washington, AGAIN. So needless to say I was pretty pissed off and realized there is simply no way my Luigi will ever beat a good metaknight., it just isn't going to happen. I guess Diddy is my new secondary just for that matchup as of today, because this isn't going to fly. Diddy has a fairly similar, fun aerial game and can at least go somewhat even with MK on stages that allow for good banana control, so I'm going to try that.

Anyway, through all that crap I did end up walking away with some good vids to share at least. The last 3 are currently uploading so be patient. I'll leave them to upload overnight because I'm sleepy, but they're going don't you worry. The first two are 2 of 4 money matches I played against Praxis while I was there. He has a beast of a peach... its simply terrifying.

Anyway I won the first two games, he won the second two, but we only remembered to save 2 of them, lulz. Second two are me doing Luigi dittos in an actual tournament match, which was pretty cool. I would have recorded more but I wasn't allowed to use my own station as much as I wanted for various reasons. I also did another money match against a decent snake and destroyed him, but saved the replay on Praxis's wii... so I'll have that up eventually.

I played doubles with SwastikaPyle... and we didn't do so hot. We're both good players but we don't work so well as a team. However we did play against a MK and Marth team (as Luigi and ROB), and I gimped MK with 3 consecutive ledge dropped Bairs. It was sexy. I also had 4 uppercut kills in one match and we still lost. It was disappointing to say the least. Again, couldn't record these because my own station was in use for other tournament stuff and we had to get the show on the road.

Commentary is welcome. However keep in mind Praxis is really good, so this was a tough match and I was playing seriously. And please don't point out the obvious button mess ups... trust me you'll know when you see them.

Oh, and I officially placed 17/43 :(

Sorry for rambling so with no further delays, here are the vids!

Man, that is a dangerous Peach, at the start her dairs were painful.
That was a pretty close fight.
Peach was really good at close range, I think more fireballs, whether its a mindgame or or spacing. Maybe just some SH>fireballs, do it when Peach is making her landing after a big hit like at 1:35 then if she AD you can go f-smash.
Good first kill on the edge.
There were time when you jabbed but didn't follow with a strong combo, like a jab>grab>d-throw.
Good way to end the fight, and you were good with tilts as well.

Wishing Apex 2012 happened again.
I remember there's a way to avoid her Dair, just by shielding it all but then you'll get your shield eaten, or if you roll, but then she'll just follow with DI and continue with the ****. It was either by powershield to a spotdodge then a upsmash or, shield then roll and go for a **** attack, I forgets. but im sure OoS upsmash will ****

Nice, nice. Not much I can say that hasn't been covered, but just wanted to say use F-tilt.

Great match. Like kigbariom said, I think there were some times where you should have thrown a couple of fireballs. Either that or I just use too much fireballs.
Also, it seems that you didn't have a nametag = no controller config. Have you ever tried tap jump off? Dishing out utilts has never been easier and there are some times where utilt may have been a better choice than usmash. I don't know, I just really like utilts.

So how did you place in the actual tourney?

I used homebrew to save infinite replays then captured them onto my PC when I got home, thats why there aren't any tags. I play with tap jump on (as well as Z set to jump and Y to grab), but I have never had problems doing tilts since my early melee days, so I'm not sure why people even play with tap jump off at all.

As far as the actual tourney goes, I got screwed. I won two, lost to Jem's MK (again) then lost to a kirby because I got spiked by a bomb on green green's. I was pissed off. I did great in all the money matches I played though -_-

I didn't think it was useful either, but then I tried it and found that you have much more freedom so you can do uairs without accidentally double jumping and whip out tilts easier and faster as they were meant to be. It was just a suggestion :bee:

also that sucks about the tourney matches D:
