I just unlocked all default fighters. I'm still new to the new Smash games, so I'm not sure where to go from here. What is all this gold used for? What is the purpose of trophies? What fighters should I learn? At the moment I've played a lot of Wii Fit Trainer, Pac-Man, and Ike. I have also played a ton of Shulk, but I feel like he's kind of a one-trick pony. Some fighters I wanna learn are Ness, Luigi, R.O.B. and Sonic. Also, if you can, tell me which ones are really over-rated. Such as Link, Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, etc. Thanks a ton, I just need some direction I think, haha.

Also, how is my signature? I just finished it as well.

The Gold is used for buying trophies or for Master Hand and Crazy Hand mode. And continuing on single player, I think. There's really not much use for it. There's no CD shop, no custom shop, nothing. The purpose of trophies? To look at, I guess? Some people are collectionists, so to each their own. As for your mains? Just go for whomever, whether it's by playstyle or character. Also, I don't think there's an overrated character, just well-liked.

EDIT: Oh, and your signature is fine. It's your very own, after all.

As with Smash Bros. Brawl, the previous version in the series, I used the challenge wall as my road map for what to do next in Sm4sh. Doing so will gradually work your way through all the characters and game modes. You might even find a new favorite character or game mode in the process. I mostly stayed away from the "pay-to-play" modes in my first week until I felt comfortable enough with my characters and amount of gold and equipment obtained. It took me two months to clear the challenge wall, but I always felt like I was making progress along the way since I always had a goal in mind on that wall to achieve.

If I were starting over from scratch, I would've done things mostly the same but perhaps in a more efficient manner, knowing what I know now. I'd focus most early efforts on Smash Tour in order to randomly gather numerous special moves, equipment, trophies, etc. You'll also randomly conquer challenges without even knowing it at first. I'd also work on All-Star mode, event matches, and Stadium mode early on since they are free of charge. Doing so will gradually earn gold, handy for other modes of play.

Overall, there is no right or wrong way to progress, but just different paths you can take to get there. The challenge wall simply puts a roadmap out there to help get you started.

imo you should start to pick out a main or two. Try out many characters that look appealing and see if they fit your playstyle. After that I would look at competitive guides for that character and try to get better. After that you should be able to go on For Glory and do pretty well. You'll probably be doing For Glory mainly since there aren't many other options. There is tournies, and For Fun (don't recommend). Also, like many others are saying if you're looking to make a custom than do the above.

If you want to complete the game, aim for all the custom moves, then aim for all the trophies. Challenges and equipment can be nice, but they don't show as much completion due to how seemingly random some of the challenges are and how you can't ever have every piece of equipment.

If you just want to practice, get all the stages, then really practice with certain characters whose movesets click with you. Try practicing with custom moves if you have them, as well.

(If you haven't noticed, I'm crazy for custom moves.)

Cry because this game has no good single player content.

Master/Crazy Orders is pretty fun, imo.
The gambling concept works in theory, but the heavy RNG elements in what you're rewarded with and in the matches themselves makes it feel like a complete chore. There's truely no greater pleasure than getting screwed over by an unfortunate series of item drops and losing half of your rewards because of it. There is also the big glaring issue of Crazy Orders basing your amount of stamina in the Crazy Hand boss fight on your percentage, but the game also heals you if you complete a turn successfully. The game is punishing you for doing well, which is completely nonsensical.

The only thing Special Orders has going for it is that its the most effective way of getting Customs and CD's, but that really isn't saying much since its only competition is classic mode and all star.

Gold is not really used for much, other than playing the single player modes like Master Orders and getting trophies, which really don't have much purpose other than looking pretty.

What fighters should I learn? At the moment I've played a lot of Wii Fit Trainer, Pac-Man, and Ike. I have also played

The fighters you should learn is a really subjective thing, depends on your goals and what characters you like. If you want to be a competive player then I'd honestly recommend just sticking to whoever your favorite character is and to read up what there players of that character do, but you should also feel free to branch out and try new things.
Anyways, you play Wii fit trainer, Pac-Man, and Ike, so I found some guides for each of them to help you get started.
Just going to point out Jigglypuff is not overrated at all, she's generally considered one of the 5 worst characters this game, she's just bad. :p
Also, how is my signature? I just finished it as well.
I have to say, it's a pretty nice signature, I like it.

The gold is used for playing classic mode and master orders (sometimes crazy orders), and to buy trophies. The trophies have no purpose other than decoratation and getting challenges done. Just learn whatever fighters you want. If you like :4wiifit::4pacman::4myfriends::4ness::4luigi::4rob::4sonic:, learn them. Overated goes by many opinions, since if one character was overrated, and everyone thought that, it can't be overrated. This problem with :4metaknight: for underrated actually around april to june 2015. Almost everyone was saying :4metaknight: is underrated. If almost everyone thinks he's underrated, he's not underrated, since the general consenses you're going off of is clearly inaccurate.

My personal opinion for overrated (In no order) is :4bowser::4falcon::4darkpit::4ganondorf::4greninja::4link::4link::4link::4link::4link::4marth::4mario:(Sometimes):4gaw::4pit::4rob::4robinm::4feroy:(By 50% of people):4ryu:

My personal opinion for underrated (Also in no order) is :4bowserjr::4charizard::4dedede::4duckhunt::4fox::4jigglypuff::4jigglypuff::4jigglypuff::4jigglypuff::4jigglypuff::4jigglypuff::4jigglypuff::4kirby::4lucina::4megaman::4olimar::4pacman::4pikachu::4feroy:(By the other 50%) :4shulk::4sonic::4wario::4yoshi::4jigglypuff:

But everyone's opinions are differant.

Play Smash Tour, while most people denounce the mode, if you play on small 25 turns, it is fun and very good for getting the various moves and equipment, and mii gear. You will need to play it just to get all of the stages anyways, so play 15 turn medium and large and a 25 turn small and it will be good, and it gives you crazy orders tickets, so that gives you the right to one chance at the other good mode for grinding in smash

If you own Smash 3DS, I guess you could always begin hunting down the custom special moves, but there's also All-Star mode and Classic mode to cover.

Play online, play the single player modes, unlock custom specials...

Really just continue to play the game and enjoy it as is. Now if you're a Completionist, then try to unlock every little thing there is to unlock.

Crazy Orders is also single-handedly the best mode for acquiring the strongest equipment in the game. No other game mode comes even close, not even Classic on 9.0 difficulty. I like a good challenge, and clearing Classic with the entire cast at 9.0 just wasn't enough for me. Crazy Orders is what keeps driving me back, despite failing at it more often than I succeed at it. Whether it is knowing I will get excellent equipment even on failed runs or whether I strive to beat my best scores, this mode has it all. To each his own, I suppose.

Smash 3DS owners have less freedom when it comes to acquiring equipment. You can only carry up to 6 custom parts in a single Smash Run match, and not all Classic mode stages give you a custom parts option.

Sure, you could have your amiibo fight like crazy, and then pick up the rewards that they received, but this doesn't really help you get the rarer bonus effects. In fact, you have better odds of getting the Vampire and Critical Hitter bonus effects than the Anchor Jump and Double-Jump Drag bonus effects.

The reasoning for this is because the Vampire and Critical Hitter bonus effects (almost) always offer stronger stat drops than stat boosts, while the Anchor Jump and Double-Jump Drag bonus effects offer the weakest stat drop value ranges of any bonus effect (never going worse than -16); you could potentially get the strongest positive value (+85) AND the weakest negative value (-5) with Anchor Jump and Double-Jump Drag (along with Antiglide and Air Piñata).

Still, if you're looking to get all of the bonus effects, you'll just have to get very lucky with your game mode choices.
