no applicability other than being a movement trick. call it what you want, it's just a slow run.

how to do it:
as far as we know, the most popular way to slow your dash speed is to turn the stick down diagonally to a 45 degree angle while dashing. you'll run slower but not crouch.

if you interrupt a moonwalk by moving the stick forward, returning to a dash, you'll get a REALLY slow run. and if after this you slow it down even more by going 45 degrees.

to sum it up in steps:
1. moonwalk, but not fully
2. put the stick back in running position
3. when you see the stall (it's obvious) then go to 45 degree slow run

some other notes:
- dash attacks come out at full acceleration
- not sure about dash grabs
- dash jumps do not
- it slowly accelerates as it eliminated the effects of the moonwalk

i couldn't fit this into character specific, though i discovered it using mewtwo (it looks really sexy when done with him lol, his dashes are sexy.)

since i main IC, that fully accelerated dash attack from the slow run looks really cool and unexpected.

but like i said, virtually no applicability. have fun slow running.

(*sigh* nothing compared to silentspectre's self-discovered dash/waveland/air movement tricks... what a beast.)

its best with captain falcon - you can do some REALLY craszy stuff with moonwalk running and confuse the hell out of your opponent :p

Dang imagine if it would do dash jumps like this at full speed. You could go slow and bust out with a full speed knee! That would be nuts.

EDIT: Does it do this because the game thinks you're turning around after running? I know that when you run, and then abrutly turn around (not dash dancing :p) and go through those laggy 'turn around' frames, you run slower, and slower, and slower. Kind of like how repeated walljumps work.

it's a good mindgame. normal speed dash attack from slow run? this game is all about movement; any movement tricks will find a way to be useful.

yeah, i mostly find this useful (or cool-looking) for characters that use dash attacks with a lot of distance or speed/priority. lots of dash attacks can come out REALLY far, which can sometimes be surprising (e.g. marth or ice climbers)

people with long wd's and laggier dashes will have a more profound effect, which is probably why mewtwo's seems the most exaggerated. wding back before slow-running DOES seem to increase the effect.

using this trick has become a part of my style lol... looks cool, and people go "ohhhh!" which is always good in smash.

to ThatGuy: it's a bit different from those turn around dashes, but it has the same effect. you activate the effect not by turning around, but by moonwalking. (if that's what you meant, then yeah lol)
