Jumping Out of Shine with Different Jump Buttons

I've started playing Melee for the first time a few days ago after playing Smash 4 for about a year and half, and watching countless Melee tournaments. I really think Falco is gonna be my main man, so I've been training with him a lot recently. I'm having trouble jumping out of grounded shine fast though. I know it's easier to jump out of shine in the air, but I want to jump out of shine faster on ground. I find it somewhat hard to flick my thumb from the B button to the Y jump button, so I started testing out just using tap jump out of it. Tap jump out of grounded shine is definitley easier for me, but it's hard to short hop with tap jump, which makes it hard to waveshine. Should I just try to use the Y button to jump out of the grounded shine, or work on short hop with tap jump out of shine? Thanks

Definitely Y. Tap jump for grounded shines makes everything unnecessarily difficult.

Yes, tap jump is only good to double jump when already airborne (whether it's out of shine or not).
Do not start using tap jump to short hop, jump cancel, or anything like that. Y is the way to go.

It's only natural the Y>B or B>Y motions feel weird at the beginning with spacies. You'll get it down soon enough though, don't worry about it.

Eh, tap jump for shine grab/usmash is fine.

when i do play falco (not often) i actually use tap jump for pillar combos and things. i actually find it easier to short hop with tap jump than x/y, but i do use those buttons to waveshine
