I don't know if this is known or not, but during the absorption animation of the magnet you can do anything you can do out of a shield. You don't even have to press the shield button, you just hit the direction or jump button. You can input as soon as the attack connects up until Ness puts his arms back up, so it's a pretty big window.
This means no ending lag for PSI Magnet!

Of course, you have to have tap jump on to Usmash or PKT.
This doesn't work in the air.

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8uw5-b7e0s
Did some PSI Magnets in the middle to show what happens when you don't cancel. I also show what happens if you input without getting hit: nothing. Ignore the grabs.

Seriously, huh? Could you explain it better?
By "the attack", so you mean PSI Magnet? But that isn't an attack.
And "Ness puts his arms back up". When does he put his arms "back" up? He puts them up once...

The attack is the opponent's attack you're trying to magnet.
This can only be done if you're hit by an energy attack and absorb it. He puts his arms down as he heals. Basically, as you're healing you can do this, but you can do it a few frames before it starts. Another way to tell as the "flwerp" noise is going on, but you can do it a few frames after.

I didn't know this and that is actually a very, very cool trick; going to make my game's against Pit's arrow spam a lot easier. Good work!

OMG this is an AMAZING find. Sounds like it will be tons useful against Falco, Pit and Wolf. ESPECIALLY Wolf.

5/5
Gotta practice this.

^ Press down, left or right immediately after absorbing something and Ness will do a sidestep or roll dodge automatically. If you have tap jump on you can PK Thunder or Upsmash too.

Major props, Brown Paper Sack. This will be really useful.

You dont NEED to have tap jump on. If you pres a jump button as you smash or use PKT, the effect remains similar.
