So Recently I was playing online and discovered something quite annoying. While In my match (was playing as Ness) I hit my opponent with 2 Up-tilts and I was going to combo into a Short hop Up-air, but For some reason when I jumped and pressed A my Up-smash came out instead which led to me getting punished. So after the match I went to training mode to try to recreate the combo, And it happened again.
It seems when you are holding Up and you try to Jump and immediatly do an attack your up-smash will come out. This can be very annoying when your trying to combo. Its pretty much useless.

I'm sorry if this has already been discovered and discussed, I haven't seen anything regarding this yet so I decided to make the thread.

Edit: Did this happen in previous iterations as well? I don't remember ever having this issue with PM or Brawl.

I've had this happen a few times before though I just passed it off as me just pressing the jump button to early in the middle of the up tilt animation so Uair just comes out as Usmash cause I've had it happen with up tilts as well.

This happens in Melee, Brawl and P:M (dunno about 64). It's actually considered to be a pretty good technique when you're actually trying to do it. It lets you do stuff like running up smashes without a c-stick, and upsmash out of shield by canceling shield with jumping and then canceling the jump with an upsmash.

If you're having problems with doing it by accident now Smash 4 might have just made it easier to do.

Yes, but jump has always mapped as up by default in all the other games too. Try turning off tap jump see if that helps.
