Check in is 30 minutes before the start of the tournament. Tournament starts at 1 PM EST / 12 noon CST / 11 AM MST / 10 AM PST. Seeds will be shuffled before the tournament starts, so do not start matches until tournament has officially started.
Use http://twitch.tv/kenniky to communicate during the tournament. There will be no stream.
Ruleset:
2 stocks
6 minutes
Best of 3 until Top 4, then Best of 5.
Customs are OFF
DLC characters are ALLOWED
Mii Fighters are ALLOWED (any moveset is OK)
Dave's Stupid Rule is in effect: a player may not counterpick to a stage they have previously won on.
Gentleman's Rule is in effect for stages: players may play on any stage, legal or not, as long as both players agree. You may not Gentleman to a different ruleset or a different game/game type.
Timeouts are decided by stock, and then percent. In the event of an exact tie, a 1 stock, 2 minute match is played out. In the event of another tie, a 1 stock, infinite time match is played out. This continues until a definitive victor is attained.
In the event of a suicide move used to take the last stock of both players, the initiator wins. Suicide moves include Bowser's Side-B, Ganondorf's Side-B, Kirby's Neutral-B and his respective King Dedede and Wario variants, King Dedede's Neutral-B, Wario's Neutral-B, and Donkey Kong's Forward Throw.
Stage selection:
FIRST ROUND: Players should agree to a starter stage. If players cannot agree, stage striking ensues. Players choose heads or tails, and a third party should type "coin flip" into Google and report back the result. If a third party is unavailable, both players should flip until their results are the same, in order to avoid cheating. The winner then strikes first in a 1-2-1 format (that is, winner of the coin flip strikes 1, loser strikes 2, winner strikes 1 and you play on the remaining stage).
After the first round, the winner gets 2 stage strikes.
Stage list:
Starters:
Battlefield
Final Destination
Smashville
Town and City
Dreamland 64*
Counterpicks:
Lylat Cruise
Delfino Plaza
Castle Siege
Duck Hunt
*If neither player owns Dreamland 64, you should request that someone who does join your room and choose it for you. Or just don't choose it.
If you have any questions, contact me here on Smashboards, or ask in the twitch chat during the tournament.
