So I've noticed that my online play seems to be infected with dash attacks. I'm not just talking about myself either. It seems like everyone favors using a character with a decent range game and then just dash attacking anyone that gets close enough. The worst thing is that I'm a huge noob and am getting crushed by this stuff more often than not.

This is interesting to me because I just spent an entire day playing with about a dozen different people in a live setting and I don't feel like any of the games went this way, and in that setting I did really well.

Is anyone else feeling like 1v1 for glory is just a game of repeated dash attacks, and other attacks with movement attacked to them (like Falcon Kick, Jumping Fish, etc)?

This unfortunately is common in a lot of online multiplayer games. In BF and CoD, tons of snipers which is kind of okay in CoD, but really bad in BF since objectives are important. In fighting games, it's usually button mash and spamming. I recommend that you find users around here or friends you know that play SSB4 and fight them instead of randoms who although can have those awesome players who don't spam, dealing with that chance, might not be worth it. Also, since this is a forum, you can tell people if you want to spar, practice, etc. and they won't go all tryhard on you.

I'm stubborn... so yeah. I think I should start playing people around here on the 3DS rather than dealing with tryhards and spammers.

That's common actually, but really annoying because they mess up with the ground game, one idea is force them out of that spammy comfort zone, an Up Throw can change a game if exectuted properly; and that's good for both players because they develop new strategies even if they're not aware of that.
