Yo&hello.

Just thought I'd share something I stumbled across while playing at the Trans-Canada tournament hosted not too long ago down here.

I've migrated from the use of the A button for my aerials, to the all-around use of the c-stick for my aerials. It seemed to improve my gameplay&tech. skill generally (shffled bairs while moving forward, shffled uairs without fail)
Then I applied that usefulness into my many attempts at usmashing my foes at high %s.

The result? I would try to dash and hit up on the control stick and c-stick at the same time...35-40% of the time jumping and uairing, or just jumping.
During the tournament it was a hassle because I kept on missing opportunities for easy kills at crucial moments in my matches. I then went home and practiced my technique...and found myself another way to do it.

I AM ASSUMING THAT THIS MINOR DETAIL IN THE WAY FOXES USMASH HAS ALREADY BEEN DISCOVERED, nonetheless: When you run to your foe and attempt to usmash, instead of tapping left/right then thrusting the the control stick upwards while simultaneously pressing up on the c-stick - try...

Moving the control stick in a 90 degree motion, from left or right past the diagonals to the top. So, visually...your control stick is jammed left, move the stick all around the edges of the right side till it reaches the top. Just picture 1/4 (a quarter) of the control stick's area of movement...and you'll get it.

Sorry for typing so much, and taking up your time. Hope this helps y'all in some way!

Dash Cancelling is significantly slower. Why not just use A? well, that's how i normally do it. (except out of shield. then i use c).

I just use A... running and inputing the buttons as a regular upsmash with A will register as a JC Upsmash, but it will start to charge, so be sure to release it ASAP for a quicky. :)

So long as you hold A for no more than 2 frames, it won't charge.

Well, you can often TGM2 it into a usmash (if against fast fallers).

I think A is slower. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you'll always charge even the tiniest bit if you use A.

While running, I just jam the up button and the c-stick up at the same time. It's the same technique I use when up-smashing out of shield.

Well, you get charge (for any smash) only if you don't release a by the "charge frame" so for things like fox's fsmash (charge frame=7) it's easy to not charge w/ a. Fox's usmash on the other hand, has a charge frame of 2. so you can only push A for under 2 frames (must register on one frame, but not on the next) and have it be uncharged. So, you can get it uncharged w/ A, it'll just take a bit of practice.
