I haven't played smash in weeks because I started learning jumpstyle. Any other jumpstyle enthusiasts out there? It's rare to find anyone in North America who even knows what it is. :)

You acknowledge it's rare for anyone to know what it is, so you'll make a toic about it without actually saying what it is? Pure genious right there. :/

Sigh... This is the worst trend I've ever seen and it's all over the place here in the Netherlands -_-'. I mean, they even have ****ing national championships jumpstyle over here, how ****ing pathetic is that. I've seen everybody do it, from little 5 year olds to grown ups who are way in their 40's.

For those who don't know it yet, you better keep it that way, but if you are too curious here's the videoclip of Jeckyll & Hyde - Freefall . Jumpstyle is a dance/music genre that apparently is created by us Dutchies, and I think it's the biggest shame we could've ever had(next to Geert Wilders and Pim Fortuyn that is). I also bet it's created by some Hilly Billy's with to much time on their hands.

Here's the vid: Jeckyll & Hyde - Freefall (this is the song that started it all, or at least, the first song that made jumpstyle big)

I know what it is! I know what it is! However, I don't like the music it's normally done to (Heavy, distorted base under some generic techno line). It looks less lame when people do it to rock songs. Like this!

I only know really basic steps but if someone needed to know what it was I could probably demonstrate. Could, but wouldn't. You know, wanting to keep my dignity intact and all.

If you want more videos of jumpstyle, you can go to http://www.jumpforce.nl/ and click on movies on the left nav bar.

Personally, I think some DDR kids went to a rave and didn't know what to do. Thats how jumpstyle started.

So it's pretty much just coreographed, more pretty ska skanking.
This was horrible skanking. Please, if you believe this is in any way representative of the ska dance, you better jump off a bridge or learn how it's done. Man, "pick it up pick it up" !

I don't know why you are so angry. Although that is your personal opinion, to me it seemed like people just messing around and having fun, nothing demeaning. I think it looks kinda cool. I wouldn't get hooked on it or anything, but I can see why people like it.

EDIT: It's actually refreshing to see some dancing that doesn't involve some aspect of sex in it.

I actually found the crappiest skanking I could, to make the effect greater.

Jumpstyle is kind of interesting, but there's not enough variation in it. I mean, they pretty much just stay perfectly on beat the whole time, and everyone just does the same moves, but in different orders, it seems. Although, I've gotten into stupider things, like pen-spinning... >_>

I think it's because I was once a break dancer(still do the basics, but not the "break" stuff) and I believe that dancing should come spontaneous and it should be original. I don't like the fact that EVERYBODY is doing the same dance, and the same 'steps' over and over again. Most people are like:"Well, I'm doing it because everybody's doing it" and that's a thought I can't stand. I don't care if someone is copying another person, as long as they are doing it because they like doing it, not because everybody else does. Believe me, there are a lot of people here who are jumping just to fit in.

I think that's my main problem with jumpstyle.
