Hi there, name's Kippty!!! It's a pleasure to meet everyone! I've actually been a user on Smashboards for quite some time now (I joined up around the time brawl was released). Here's a little bit of my Smash history and background.
Even since the day I sat down and picked up that old N64 with Smash 64 at my church group, I've felt this...hunger I guess, for competitive play. Unfortunately, I've never really had the skill to match my hunger...
I guess you could say I was an aspiring competitive player with a casual mindset. Basically I thought that if I trained hard enough against 3 level 9 CPU's I would obtain the same level of skill that the pro players I'd see on YouTube have. I also didnt have online or wifi, so this was what i stuck with as far as training and trying to improve. Obviously, playing like that, I'd never see that happen. I even entered a number of local tournaments in my area (the NW Ohio tournament scene was never enormous, but it used to be bigger than what it is now anyway. Whenever I'd enter I would to ok, but always get dropped into the losers brackets, then eliminated.
Now that Smash 4 has been release for a while now and I have access to wifi, I felt that I've never been better, but I still feel that hunger to be the absolute best. My desire to be that pro level that I strove for when I was younger (27 now).
I guess the tl:dr version is that I was bad, I'm getting better. Now I'm going to train to be the best I can be. It's been a while since I've been on Smashboards, so I'm trying to figure out how to navigate the site as far as getting friend codes of skilled people so I can improve (3DS version here), enter online tournaments, maybe trying to figure out how to build the scene up a little bit more here in Toledo, Ohio, and just discussing smash in general. Thanks and Viva La Smash!!!!!
