It's been a LONG time

The last Pokemon game I played was Gold, and that was back in 2000-2001. I just found it while rumaging through some old boxes in my basement. ( blasphemy, I know) I just picked it back up and had LOADS of fun running through it (it still had the time set). Having so much fun, this got me wondering if the new games were worth picking up? I've been away for so long I haven't paid too much attention to reviews, so I thought I would ask the community if I should.

defenatly d/p is a Very deep game compered to gold and alot of fun..
