What think about my idea: An item shop

You collect money, and you buy items for help in your journey. Also, you can buy stickers and trophies.
You can select menu a choose the item that you want.

What think about this? Good or bad?

Edit: I posted this in wrong forum, could you move this for SSB4 discussion, thank you.

I'd love that to be the biggest shop in every ****ing fighting game ever.
No characters or stages though.
Trophies, stickers, music, objects for the stage editor, cutscenes, alternate costumes, alternate menus, even items you use in battle or alternate final smashes would be godly.

This. This is all that the store would need.

If SSB had a "Grade"-system which is essentially points/grade awarded from performance of the battle (Hey, why not use the Bonuses from Melee & 64?) and use it to buy these things. Think.

Not a totally bad idea, has a lot of potential. As long as it doesn't turn out like in those Lego games where you can buy characters iirc. Fun little things like trophies and CDs would be cool though. Plus, it'd encourage standard battles to earn things.

Anna and Tom Nook would run the store, obviously. Oh, and Beedle too.

Yeah, it's a nice idea for exclusive Trophies and CD's, selling them for a certain number of Coins (the same you use in the lottery and Coin Launcher).
Other good stuff for the store could be costumes and color sets.

Perhaps if we get a Metroidvania Adventure Mode, the stores could be scattered throughout the world.

Edit: Vintage Creep's post above pretty much sums my point of view.

Customizable menus would be sweet... imagine themed menus for characters, franchises and other Nintendo motifs. Kind of reminds me of Sonic Adventure 2 that had a feature where the menu had character themes.

I imagine some music would cost more, and trophies too.
Now I just really want this.
You could also buy new gaming modes like the Special Mode. Something like Fast or Slow Brawl. Or the Sound Test.
Or even icons for your username when you play online, special events and additional levels for the story mode.
The only thing I'm against are characters, because we would lose the "unlocking" feel which is great.
I've changed my mind on stages, kinda. New SSB4 stages should be unlockable via challeges, but retro ones from 64, Melee or Brawl could be in the Shop. Also alternate versions of a stage could be there, like a Mushroomy Kingdom skin which actually resembles Mario games. Or Battlefield skins from early games like the Metal stage from 64.
Seriously now I really really want this.

You know what would be great? FE's Sacred Stones/Awakening-like world map. That'd also would have shops every stage you stumble to. Also merchants which could be cameo characters time to time...

I'm not so sure, having a challenge page like in Brawl and Uprising that allows you to unlock things by completing objectives sounds a lot more interesting. Although, having a shop for some things would be pretty neat.

Buy different backgrounds for the stage builder. (Stuff like the backgrounds on the Smash 64 stages) Get background and foreground props for the stage itself. (Example: Whispy Woods, the crystals on the Metal Mario stage from Smash 64, etc.)

This.
I want smash bros adventure mode to be as metroidvania as possible...minus the frustrating controls that is.
Different shops for each Nintendo realm featuring unique items to that series, like costumes music stickers trophies weapons etc...
And more menu customization is always welcome, I want to be able to choose any song from the game to play on the menu seeing as how I went through the effort of unlocking each one.

Cds, trophies, stickers, music, game modes, retro stages, character costumes, items, Pokemon, assist trophies, taunts would be great in a store mode. Characters and stages need to be unlocked like normal, but perhaps some of the things available in the shop could only become available for purchase if the specific task is completed. I know you'll all get upset about having to "unlock everything twice" but it could easily add more importance to collection coins and completing all the tasks so the gameplay stays exciting.

I purpose this instead of the glass breaking thing. As long as the hardest trophies to gain by specific achievement are proportionally expansive.
Mind Animal Crossing? Mind how some fornitures and clothes are so expansive that they require many hours of dedication to gain all the money you need to purchase them? Same here. You might have to play the game a lot, but at least you can play it the way you like.

How about things like this too:
Alternate stance animations
Walk animations
Intros
Outros
Taunts
Win/lose themes.

What do you mean by walk and stance animations? During gameplay? The only thing that should affect the moveset is the final smash imho anyway. Would be cool to have a bunch of alternate to choose from. Or maybe some taunts?
Intros, outros and victory themes sound neat.

Stance animation, the animation your character does when standing still, whether it be for a moment or several seconds. The stance/stand and walk animations would /not/ effect gameplay. And yes, different smashes would be a great idea too, kinda like the way you can pick your super move in Street Fighter 3 Third Strike.

The way I see it, items are good for fun. But not for serious players. In that case, they are random spurts of help, which is uneven and unfair.

Ya I'm definitely up for the idea of the item shop that let you but new items, alternate costumes, music and etc... it would be a lot of fun.

It'd be a great idea. However, it must only be related to the adventure/story mode. Making an item shop for the stages/characters/items/etc would ultimately ruin the "unlocking" experiance. I mean, would you throw away the hype from "A new challenger has appeared!" for just boringly purchasing a character?

The title reads "ITEM" shop. :p

Purchasing a character is the silliest thing ever.

Item shops in some games do sell characters. An example would be Naruto GNT 2-3's item shop where you'd purchase the character in order to unlock him/her. Which wasn't such a brilliant idea to unlock character tbh.

What if the shops sell each one a different component of R.O.B.?
I remind you R.O.B. is composed by three elements: head, arms and body.

I think it's better if we battle him as a new challenger, same goes for all characters.

Well though it would be fun to have a level in the adventure mode in which you find R.O.B.'s parts Metroid-style and THEN you battle him to unlock him.

That would be jokes and pretty sick.
Or maybe not! You see: The heroes have been told they need to reassemble R.O.B. in order to complete the task. But then we find out it's a trap setted up by the villains. R.O.B. is defeated and asks the help of his master, who abandon him because he had fullfilled his purpose to keep busy the good guys while the plan was working. Then R.O.B. reminds how he was called to defeat the heroes as the most powerful of the henchmen. But in order to make all the heroes reunite in the same place he had to be disassembled to make them start the research of his parts. So R.O.B. underwent this sacrifice for his master, unaware of being tricked himself. And then, after the realization of this, he joined the good guys.

I'll agree there I think they should definitely keep the here comes a new challenger thing but everything else can be unlocked though the shop.

Really, since characters and stages the only things that actually matter to players, some might not even enter the shop at all if everything else to them is considered novelty crap.

So, I say this. Instead of buying characters, why not buy extras for characters you already have and will get? Clothes, moves, taunts, playstyles. It would add more to the characters, as well as make the shop relevant.
