While using Dolphin, I'm having some issues with wavedashing with L into using the c-stick for a smash attack. While using R to wavedash, I can smash right out of it fine with the c-stick. But using L it hardly ever works. I'm a fairly consistent wavedasher with both buttons but I'm probably better with R. I have the "GC Controller Adapter for PC USB" and I also use a mac. Everything else in Melee with Dolphin has worked just as it would on a console. I've tested everything many times and as far as I can tell it's not me.
Is it Dolphin?
Does it have to do with my GC Pad settings?

sloppy wavedashing?
sloppy inputs?
my computer?
the adapter?

Help is greatly appreciated and thank you :falcomelee:

I usually have the Control Stick radius set to 10, but other than that, I don't see any problems with the settings. If you have the standard adapter or the Mayflash adapter, the adapter itself shouldn't be a problem (unless you've somehow damaged it). I've never tried the driver on a Mac so there might be an OS issue, but your hardware should be fine if your Mac is decently recent and has a good clock speed.

Unless your controller is calibrated incorrectly, I would guess it's sloppy inputs.

EDIT: Actually, I doubt it's a comparability problem because you said everything works as well as the condole version.

EDIT 2: Meant to say dead zone, not radius. Sorry!

It also has problems on Windows 8. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

yeah it's weird, could it be because I don't have the driver? And did the picture of my GC Pad settings not come up?

It didn't come up on Smashboards, but I right-clicked it, chose "Copy image location", and pasted it in the address bar.

Also, I'm not sure if you need the driver in the latest version of Dolphin; I heard they have integrated GC controller support now. I needed the GCN Adapter application and the vJoy driver in order to run it on my version of Dolphin (the most recent one with netplay), but it only works when it feels like it because it's on Windows 8.1. I can confirm that it works consistently on Windows 7, though.

Native support is only on the dev builds for wii u adapters but you do not need the driver, it should just be plug n play (at least it is on windows).

Most people who have issues with their sticks have it because the radii aren't set to 100.

Yeah is there a certain dead zone that is especially good for the control stick?
I mixed up dead ones and radius in my previous post (I noted it in an edit). The deadzones should be around 10-15 (I usually have it at 10).

My control stick dead zone right now is at 5 so I'll test out 10-15 and see how that affects the issue, thanks

I doubt it's the deadzone. You want the deadzone to be as low as possible such that the the square in the gcpad settings is not red when your stick is idle.

Could you supply a screenshot of your controller settings? Which adapter are you using also?

Thanks for posting that Spak and I'm using the "Mayflash 2 Port Gamecube Controller to PC Dual adapter for GC controller" or "GC Controller Adapter for PC USB" or whatever it's called.

The non wii u adapters have like 2 frames of input lag, and your monitor probably around half a frame.

Does the input lag usually affect anyone negatively later when they play on a console?
No not really, being used to console when playing online can be difficult to adjust to but going to console from online generally feels really nice.

Okay thanks for everyone's advice and I'll keep working on those crispy clean wavedashes because that could honestly be the problem. Is there a weird input timing needed for a smash out of a wavedash or should you just hit the c-stick as soon as possible right after L/R?

You need to wait like 10 frames before you can act out of a wavedash.

Yeah, you have to get out of LandingFallSpecial before you can do anything.
