I am by no means at all a modder, coder, or hacker. Just a run-of-the-mill smash player so I don't exactly know what I am doing here. Pardon the ignorance. I am just done with trying to search up an answer that I can't find.
For weeks now, I can't figure out how to make the custom music work. I hear it's as simple as renaming a .brstm to the corresponding stage you want to replace it with and place it in projectm/pf/sound/strm. This has worked, but only once when replacing Super Sonic Racing from the Green Hill Zone stage with a .brstm from the Brawl Custom Music site. In fact I have to wonder, since that site asks for a template for Project M and regular Brawl, does that mean not all .brstm files are optimized for PM? What does it mean by template at least?
That question aside, the issues I seem to consistently have is 1) the music will play properly for the first three seconds before it plays the original song it was to replace except sped up, 2) the game could crash at the end of any match on any other stage, 3) even if I can get passed to the victory screen, many times the menu looks like normal brawl. Upon entering a stage, they are also reverted back to normal Brawl stages and then the game freezes.
These issues I had with the odd exception of said replacement of the Super Sonic Racing music. The problem only happened again when I tried to put another song from the Brawl Custom Music site in the same way I had previously that worked fine (download template for PM from http://www.brawlcustommusic.com/ named in the stage song I want to replace, stick in folders projectm/pf/sound/strm). It messed it up.
Either it's more complex than I am making it or there is just something obvious I am dismissing.
For what it's worth, all I can tell you is:
I am using the Hackless Full Set version.
Playing it on a Wii U
Again, I wouldn't know what else there is too it. I don't know the complicated ends of hacking, modding, coding (or whatever it's all considered). I could probably learn, but as it stands I am getting tired of trying altogether.
