Island illusion not so... islandish?

Ok, i'm a brawler who only recently found my "inner wolf" so to speak, and i read the wolf guide you have posted here. Very informative, but i noticed something. The island illusion tech was so named because it sopposedly can only be used on Yoshi's Island. I somehow performed this very same technique from the edge of final destination (for reasons i don't know) i will try to recreate this effect but has anyone else experienced this effect in a place other than Yoshi's Island?

It's not just on Yoshi's Island.. It can be done on a variety of slopes, including Pictochat's edges, the shine tower on Delfino Plaza and a couple others.
