Whatever works for you, but that's the first time I've heard of someone having to do that. I guess it's sort of like a variation on claw?

I shield with L, then press and slide from Y to c-stick quickly with my right thumb

Edit: My bad, I thought you were talking about OoS.
Out of shine, yeah I think you're going to want to learn how to do it with your right thumb. It'll help with shield pressuring so that you can move slightly forward as you aerial -> shine. But I'm guessing if you use your left thumb to hit the c-stick, you're losing the ability to move slightly forward.

But again, whatever works for you and is comfortable

You should use your right thumb. Not only would that be faster, but you would be able to move forward when Shine->SHFFLing (not that Shine->SHFFLing is good shield pressure, anyway.)

Is perfectly fine, that's the way I do it and probably most people do, is easier to move back or forward while you're doing the dair making any choice of spacing easy to achieve.

Oh wait, your left thumb? how can you make such an awkward move, lol

You're weird or just trying to troll people.
