Is this the default roster?

It seems with the addition of ICs and Snake to the roster... the site evened out the characters page... which leads me to believe that ths will be our default roster...

I know that's shakey evidence... but the page seemed to have a set number of slots... and now those slots are filled...

This may also be the reason why we havent gotten the Ness or CF update that many were hoping for... their icons are in the game... but maybe the characters are unlockable...

The finale of Snake's triple update also might be because it is the last character update...


Reasons against my reasoning:

-Sakurai said snake was going to be unlockable...

-Sakurai also said he would release the secret characters because people leaking them would be inevitable...



So... what do you think?

I think the starting roster will be bigger than this, and like you said, he told us third parties would be unlockable.

They could always be trying something different and having a smaller roster to make 1 player last longer...

I doubt it, who wants to unlock a plethora of characters? That should be a small part in the grand scheme of things, not the major focus of the game for the firs [however long it takes to unlock them all] of playing the game. Especially when you consider the other things you have to unlock that we know about, such as stages and music.

maybe CF and ness are done for i think this is the beginning of a new era of smash, this looks like a good starting roster for a kick A$$ game. future updates maybe include secret characters or some more items and even levels. for now this looks pretty solid (no pun intended, i hate snake) but who knows whats in store maybe this is a mix of all things to come...

Good point... although they were unlockable in SSB64



Anyway good input guys... I was just wondering if this seemed like a plausible idea...

Nobody ever said that 3rd parties would be unlockable. Sakurai said he was considering making 3rd parties unlockable, but it was never officially confirmed that he would. I think that Snake is a starter, because I believe that when they start showing hidden characters they'll tell us that they're hidden.

Why would the Cap'n be done for? that makes no sense since the blue falcon icon is already in the Dojo.

Also i hope this is the starting roster(excluding snake), i don't whant to be able to unlock everything in one day.

is there anything anywhere on the internet that tells us whether the secret characters will be shown before brawl is released though??

Sakurai confirmed in one of his pre-updated-Dojo comments that all guest characters will be secret/hidden.

Solid Snake = Guest character = Hidden

We can no longer assume who's a starter and who's secret now. Ever since Solid Snake was revealed today, ANY newcomer could be a secret character.

Those who think that Snake isn't unlockable, why do you think this is the full starting roster? That makes no sense. Snake is going to be unlockable anyways. Just because he's unlockable doesn't mean that the last starting character has been shown. It's possible, but not necessarily something we can go around and say is the truth.

I say that because Snake is different. We saw him in the video last year. Why wouldn't Sakurai update him? It doesn't mean that all characters from now on are going to be unlockable, it just means that he showed a character he confirmed last summer.

I reckon the starting roster will be all the veteran characters (apart from luigi if he's in, he always seems to be a secret character, same goes for jigglypuff if its in) and a couple of the new guys, but that's about it...
