Smash Wii U Is There No Way to Use L3 and R3 on the Pro Controller?

I've been using a Gamecube controller since the Melee days, but don't have an adapter for the Wii U version so I've been playing with a Pro Controller. And it's been working just fine, much to my surprise.

Here's the thing: I play with tap jump turned off, which means I don't have easy access to the out of shield options that you get with it turned on. So I had the brilliant thought "hey, let's set L3 to jump as well!" This would allow very easy inputs to get OOS techniques. But I've gone back into the customization menu, and... there's nothing there for L3 and R3.

This is really baffling to me, as I just don't understand why these button inputs would exist on the controller but not be selectable in Smash. Is it a hidden option somewhere I'm missing? Is there some menu in the Wii U itself that allows you to reassign buttons (L3->Y, for example)? Is this simply impossible? Could definitely use a pointer here.

Dude, I'm a fairly new player who doesn't have a ton of time to dedicate to the Wii U. You really, really don't need to be a **** when I'm asking a basic question.

If they thought it would be an easy accident then why are L3 and R3 even a button in the first place? Think about that, a button they never make use of.

Last I've checked, there is no L3 or R3 button. You're probably referring to the Control Sticks, where pressing down on them will make them act like buttons.

That would be what the L3 and R3 are referred to as, yes. It's not usually an official term, it's moreso slang for the fact that the sticks can be pressed in and so they kinda need an easy name other than "press the left/right stick in".

Smash devs aren't in charge of controller design. I didn't say that that was what happened, just a potential explanation.
