Smash Ace
I don't think it needs a citation. Earlier last year, the Google subsidiary Deep Mind learned how to play "Go!" and in less than a year it was able to beat all human player champions in the game. To quote the article "It crushes them." Now the reason why this is so fascinating is like Go!, Super Smash Bros. plays in a similar pattern as there are a number of different and branching paths that one can follow via button inputs. Any scholar of AI knows that perfect AI cannot be beaten by a human. Ever since AI defeated the reigning chess champion there's no way we should doubt that there won't come a day when AI can actually equal the skill of a human Smash player. Now looking back on AI throughout the Smash games, Melee, and especially Brawl's AI was pretty bad. But SSB4's AI was actually fairly decent in my opinion at least. This begs the question to you though and especially to the expert players. Do you think we'll see an AI version in Smash Bros Ultimate that can actually hold a candle to human players? Think about it carefully for a second and consider that most AI scholar's thought that AlphaGo would never within only a year's time actually be able to beat human intellect.
