Is there anyone that plays like Fox/Falco from Melee in Sm4sh?

I played 64/Melee when I was growing up but I never tried to get serious about it as a kid. I just thought it was fun. I want to actually try getting good at a smash game and the one I have available to me right now is Sm4sh instead of Melee. Watching Apex the past few days and different videos on youtube I think Fox and Falco in Melee, Leffen and Mang0's playstyle more specifically, looks super fun. I've read the Fox guide on here and it says they can't do a majority of what they could in Melee such as wavedashing (no idea what that is exactly) or shine combos. That kind of bums me out because those combos look fantastic and would probably be super satisfying if I could learn how to pull them off even half as good as Leffen/Mang0.

So now I'm wondering if there are any characters in Sm4sh that fill that role. Watching the stream right now it seems like everyone is playing super slow and defensive except for the two Shieks, a sonic, and Diddys (but **** Diddy, honestly, Down Throw UAir seems very 'broken' and not fun). There are some combos happening but not nearly as... Dragonball Z-like, I guess, as Fox/Falco in Melee. I'm sure no one in Sm4sh will be exactly like them but who would have a similar playstyle I could try? Currently I've been having some fun with C.Falcon but he seems kind of hit or miss for me but that's probably because I'm currently not very good at the game. I saw Zero do a pretty cool DAir into Knee on M2k with Falcon which was awesome but nothing else stood out too much.

Falco is brutal in Sm4sh. He's way too slow. Fox is still pretty decent. When I first played Falco, I almost felt as if they were trying to make up for ditching Wolf by giving a bit of his mechanics to Falco. As for good/pro players for Fox in Sm4sh, There really aren't any AMAZING players, but Shofu is a pretty popular streamer/amateur Fox main who competes in some smaller smash tournaments. He's more from Brawl/PM though. You could definitely learn from him if that's what you're looking for.

I don't think there's anything even kind of close to fox/falco from melee. I still use both but shine has no use other than reflecting now and most of the swag moves have been nerfed. The lack of AT also leads to the slower gameplay, just go along with the flow of Sm4sh, slower but still fun.

Sorry I'm still learning the smash terminology, what's AT mean?

I'll be sure to check out Shofu's channel after the Top 8 Melee. Can't miss that Leffen Mang0 set.

Advanced Tactics, things like wave dashing and L-Canceling and things of that nature that add depth to movement and combat.

Are you looking for a rushdown style or are you looking for Melee Fox and Falco? If it's Melee Fox and Falco, then you're out of luck since each game plays differently due to engine differences, game design, and such. Which means stuff like Shine combos, wave-dashing, etc. are all out in SSB4.

If you're looking for rushdowner, then Fox, Captain Falcon, Sonic - yes, he can rushdown -, Shulk?, Pikachu to an extent, Yoshi to an extent, ZSS, Sheik, and Little Mac comes to mind. Maybe Meta Knight too.

I guess I'll stick to Falcon and try out some Fox. Thanks.

Falco doesn't feel anything like Wolf.

I guess it depends on your definition of amazing, but Nakat is probably the best Fox player as of current. Larry Lur (DEHF) is not half-bad either. Albeit, I would not go as far as calling him "amazing." Just saying, there are some decent options for Fox players to learn from.

That being said, if the OP is just looking for someone combo-crazy, Mario (or possibly Luigi) would not be a bad choice. Otherwise, I feel that Fox is fairly similar to his previous incarnations given the difference in game mechanics. But no shine-spike though...

If melee Fox/falco faced sm4sh Fox/falco in a 1v1 first to 3, melee fox/falco would win 4. I wanted to believe that sm4sh just had to develope more, I really really did, but it's never going to play like or look like melee. Defense was never this strong in melee, even when it first came out. I just don't see it anymore. I want Melee HD.

Edit: Especially after seeing them back to back in stream. It was eye opening. Melee is the competitive fighter. Sm4sh will have a good run, but the engine is lacking.

Edit 2: Keeping my fingers cross for Sakurai to patch in some gameplay changes. Better momentum for jumps. Dash dance changes. Shield stun.
