Is there an official tier list yet?

Title. Also, why is Diddy Kong top tier something new? I had already noticed he was if not the best character in the game right when I started playing.

To put it simply, no there isn't.... although there is the Japan one, which they always do like, 2 weeks after the game comes out, or when a patch for the game comes out and the Eventhubs one. Basically ignore both... there won't be a substantial one probably for another 5 months or so... maybe even longer.

Everyone chooses their main for different reasons. Don't look down upon others because their reasons are different to your own.

Or rather, it's rude to express that distaste openly. Feel free to disagree, but be polite about it.

As for the tiers, there never really is an "official" tier list in the Nintendo sense. Here's an iterative one that the community's been voting on, and Eventhubs has their poorly-implemented one as well. Different groups can come up with different lists. But since metagames will vary slightly between regions (not only Japan vs America vs Europe), there isn't really such thing as an "official" tier list.

Exactly, some peoples enjoyment of games comes purely/mainly from playing the min/max styles and OP characters.

Someone is always going to play OP characters and switch to FOTM (flavor of the month) - but that's the way it is, you cant expect people to not play what is deemed the best (even if its not true as of yet, or still unconfirmed) - if people are saying X Y and Z are the best right now, there will be people that's choices are informed solely on that opinion.
