Is there a way to turn off tilts with left stick + a?

I'm trying to get used to tilt stick and its really annoying when I misinput a tilt instead of a smash attack

I'd suggest going into training mode and getting the muscle memory of pressing b+a at the same time. Doing this for a bit will help you from accidentally misinputting during an actual match.

Edit: I forgot to actually answer the question in my reply. I don't think there's a way to set the a button to unbinded.

I have a+b smashes turned off but I think I'll try that out

You can change the attack button to something else but I guess that wouldn’t really solve anything. The best thing to do would be to practice doing left stick and A for smash attacks instead of left stick and then A, which would get you a tilt. Alternatively, you could try A+B Smash. I personally find it awkward but it’s really just a matter of building the muscle memory for it.
