Is there a difference between the new white and black gamecube controllers.

So my smash bros edition Wii U gamecube controller just bit the dust after a year of playing melee. So now I have a new controller and its a white one I got shipped from japan. It's really weird that it feels really different. The control stick feels odd, and the triggers feel a little different. Is this just me getting used to a new controller, or are there known differences. Thanks :)

Are they both Smash Bros edition controllers, just in different colors? If so then you most likely aren't used to it. If you don't like the way it feels you can invest 3$ in a triwing screwdriver and salvage whatever you need to make the new controller feel right from the old one.

They are both smashbros edition. It's weird, i've been testing and have found that the controller vibrates whenever I L-cancel or just use the L but in general. It's not hard vibrating though

Some shoulder triggers require a lot of force to press all the way through when they're new, that might cause the vibration. If it bothers you, you can do some modifications, wait for it to break in from usage or swap parts as I mentioned.

Not sure whether a different new controller might be much better. If you think something might be wrong, I think returning it is a good idea. Even if it's just so you can have that off your mind.

Ok so I did some more testing on the white controller. I can get over the weird L and R vibrations. I probably just have to break it in. But I did notice something really weird. For some reason, whenever I try to shorthop laser with falco. It turns me around mid-air like I was trying to do a quick turn around. Kind of like when you do a quick turn around with shiek right before charging needles. The problem is, is that i'm not trying to do those turn arounds, and its messing up my neutral.

Do you think this is another case of brakeing it in. Or could this be a problem with my analog stick?

non japanese ones
I'm pretty sure all smash edition controllers are made in japan. Its just that the white ones are only sold regularly in japan and have to be imported as a consequence. In other words, one from gamestop will be the same as a new one from japan. As I said in the post i linked above, a good amount of new controllers have the the snapback issue, probably the majority. You could buy a used controller in good condition, they're just 25-30$ on ebay or get a triwing and swap parts.
