Is the combo meter trustworthy in training mode?

Hi all!

I'm new here. I was thinking of trying to make up some combos, but it's hard to tell if an enemy is truly stunned for the duration in training mode. Is the combo meter reliable? In other words, will it only continue if the enemy is hit-stunned for the duration of the attacks?

From my experiences, it is. I haven't really used training mode much for combos since i wanted at least some form of DI when I comboed whether it was a CPU or not. I believe the combo counter is still a good way to judge whether it will work or not. Most of this is based of off Fox drillshines I used to do to practice L cancelling, as I would watch for the combo counter to keep going up when I shined.

It is, but l wouldn't recommend training in training mode (as illogical as it sounds); Mainly because you cannot use the c-stick and the computer always inputs the same DI if you put them in "evade".

If you want to practice your tech by yourself, the best bet is probably using the Name Entry Glitch to get on a stage without an opponent. EDIT: Also, make sure the mode is Time and time is set to NONE.

Unless...you use the 20xx mod. It lets you use the c-stick during training mode and the ai's will DI.

Don't the NPCs not smash DI? "CPU will not smash DI (or else the DI becomes very unrealistic)."

That's a quote from the official thread (I can't link it as a new member here, but it's titled "The 20XX Melee Training Hack Pack 3.02 UPDATE (PAL Chars, More Alt Stages/Costumes, New Debug Menu!)" by achilles 1515.
