Is SSE playable in 3.0/3.01?

I assumed it wasn't since whenever I try to play it, it crashes at the "select Mario or Kirby" screen. However I've seen videos of people playing it on Youtube. Is there something wrong with mine, or is it just really buggy overall and not worked out yet?

I'm using the hackless method, no homebrew.
