Smash 3DS Is Smash Run single player only?!

I didn't notice this when it was first put on Miiverse, but I was recently going back through the old PotDs and found this:

Note how it specifically indicates that you'll be fighting CPUs at the end of it. Does this mean Smash Run mode will be single player only? If so, then I personally feel like that's a HUGE waste of potential. It'd also mean I'll have to come up with a new side event for my tournament. ><;

We don't know yet how the online menu looks. Maybe there's Smash Run on there too.

However, if the multiplayer is also restricted to online instead of local, that'll be an issue in and of itself.

Hoping that's just a translation bloop or prone to change. Time to go check the Japanese version and then worry myself over it if it still says CPU.

No, Smash Run is definitely multiplayer. Sakurai said it was a "4-Player Battle Game" in the Smash Direct, and there's been various things suggesting that it's online too.

I don't know why that menu says that, it is odd. But as the person two posts above noted, Smash Run might also be somewhere in the online menu. Or maybe there is a sub menu when you click Smash Run, for different options and modes.

I can only hope so. I think Smash Run would definitely be more fun with friends!

Its going to be both online and offline. I'm assuming (actually, almost positive) that Online Smash Run will be in the online menu, and the Local Smash Run will be in the smash run menu.

You could simply be looking at the single player message. The top screen and bottom screen on the PotD don't always correspond.

Nope. Remember in the smash direct it said 'Additional system and games needed for multiplayer mode' during the smash run part. You probably just have to go to 'Games & More' for multiplayer.

Some people claim they were able to play local Smash Run multiplayer at the Best Buy Smashfest.

(Not me, the employee there claimed it wasn't available but they may have just switched wireless off.)

It's both people. That was simply the offline menu.
